Meetings: Odd and Ends:
Why Linux:Linux is a robust plucky Unix-like operating system that runs on a PC or Mac, developed by Linus Torvalds and a cast of hundreds (some say thousands) across the Internet from many countries. A Linux computer can do a heck of a lot, such as: Unix shell-C-Pascal programming, Intra/Internet server, Web server, PC-file server, Email Server, Xwindows, Netscape browsing platform, Word Processing and runs all sorts of games. Linux is free with open source code and often out-performs other commercial operating systems. Linux can live easily on the same machine with Win95, Win 3.1 or WinNT with various dualboot schemes.Mailing ListThe purpose of this list is to help members of the WeMaLU community communicate, plan events, exchange ideas and technical information about Linux and Unix.
